The University of Santo Tomas finally opened its gates to all incoming first-year students after a successful Welcome Walk and Roarientation yesterday, August 9, 2022.

The festivities were highly anticipated by the freshmen crowd. Following two years of imposed distanced and online learning, the university is finally ready to return to a physical setup, albeit in a limited capacity. In a brief exchange with first-year communication students, they noted being in awe of UST’s rich culture, society, and various events prepared.

The event started at 8:00 AM with the Holy Eucharist headed by Rev. Fr. Richard Ang, O.P. It was then followed by the much-awaited Roarientation 2022, with the theme: “Thomasian Welcome Walk, A Walk To Treasure.”

Reysan CompaƱero, a freshman from section 1COM2 said, “it was really exciting. Since we're freshies able to experience the iconic and memorable Welcome Walk of UST.” Hannah Alcantara, a freshman from section 1COM1 stated, “I think everyone would have to agree that the best experience we can get here during the Welcome Walk and the Roarientation is the in-person campus moment that has been delayed for almost 2 years, and the new Thomasian freshies!”

Performances from the Salinggawi Dance Troupe, UST Singers, and UST Yellow Jackets were witnessed by the Thomasian freshies. The “GoUSTE” cheer was also part of the crowd’s favorite. As a wrap-up to the festivities, all freshmen from the various colleges and faculties entered the historical Arch of the Centuries—the symbol of their journey beginning at UST.

Kevin Christian Crisolo

Hello everyone! Good morning, good afternoon, or good evening. As a 19 year old college student, communication is my passion. I am Kevin Christian S. Crisolo, but I’d like you to call me “KC”, a proud member of LGBTQ+ Community, from the land of brave and valiant men, Cavite! I am a goodhearted and sweet, expressive, and a risk taker type of person. You can catch up with me easily as 1,2,3. I am fond of mingling with others because I want to learn from their experiences and at the same time to have fun with a variety of people. And that is one of the many reasons why I have been an active member since elementary in our school publication and media. I can say that character leads my way.
