On August 31, 2022, the UST Office of the Secretary-General (OSG) announced the
guidelines on the suspension of classes during inclement weather in consultation with the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs.

UST shall follow announcements by the national and/or local government regarding class suspensions. In the event that there will be no announcements on class suspension, classes will proceed as scheduled in accordance with the principles of dialogue, flexibility, and accessibility:

  • Dialogue. Students and academic staff are expected to communicate with their academic officials if they are placed in extraordinary situations that prevent them from participating in online or face-to-face classes.

  • Flexibility. Academic officials shall evaluate the requests of students and academic staff to determine valid reasons that may be granted consideration and flexibility given individual contexts and concerns.

  • Accessibility. Online synchronous sessions and hyflex sessions shall be recorded and uploaded in the UST Cloud Campus; thus, providing the students access to the recordings as supplemental material for study.

Under Signal No. 1, classes for all levels will proceed as scheduled, as well as online assessments and examinations.

Under Signal No. 2, online synchronous/asynchronous classes, online assessments/examinations, and F2F classes will be suspended for the basic education. For tertiary education, online synchronous classes will be shifted into an asynchronous mode, and suspension of F2F classes will be at the university's discretion.

Under Signal No. 3, classes and online assessments/examinations for all levels will be suspended.
