#LayoNaman: How North kids gaslight South kids into commuting

The Manila Culture Pot, a newbie public group on Facebook that allows users to share their experiences on different places and tourist spots in Metro Manila, took over the internet last night due to a now-deleted post that sparked an uproar and debate in the comment section.

The post included a candid picture of a group member's friend—eating and enjoying a 24 Chicken rice meal—with a seemingly off-putting caption: "Ako na nga 'yung nag-commute, ako pa 'yung nanlibre."

Although the post initially gained a lot of laugh reactions, the comment section snowballed into a debate that was instigated by a now-blocked user who started the hashtag #MgaTagaNorthWalangPera in which numerous users followed suit. This enraged several users as one of them replied to the comment, "pano kami walang pera eh madami dito mga conyo." Afterwards, a user seconded the defense, "you're so right kaya, plus we don't eat tusok tusok here kasi we go to starbs after school." The mentioned users have been reported following multiple reports from other group members.

The Manila Culture Pot is now on hiatus as the post caused controversy among group members which affected the once-present camaraderie in their community. "The group's return is yet to be announced, though we've learned our lesson on how to better moderate conversations instead of standing by." One of the admins, Benny P. Noval, stated in an email sent to our publication. Furthermore, if you are interested in viewing their group, click here.
