#CASAHalalan2024: Francis Alexandra D.H. Fante aims to serve as the next UST-CASA Auditor

Board from CASA Chronicle's Creatives Team

Aspiring to be of service to the CASAn community through their leadership skills, advocacies and platforms are four candidates from Partido KaCASA in this year's UST-Communication Arts Students' Association's Elections 2024.

Thence, through a partnership with the Electoral Board, a set of interviews took place led by CASA Chronicle to have an in-depth look at this year's Executive Board candidates.

Ready to maximize the potentialities of the CASAn Community as the sole candidate for the Auditor post is Francis Alexandra D.H. Fante, who tells it all in an interview that carries out her plans and policies for the upcoming Academic year.

First Part: General Questions

What specific goals do you hope to achieve if elected?

If elected ako…As a general person, honestly I want to remain na ma-maintain natin yung brand of excellence na CASA is known for. Pero siguro as an auditor, I want to be someone to ensure na nandiyan ako to maingtain the checks and balances ng organization natin na parang… maensure na maririnig tayo. Kahit na something na as simple as budgets, activities na meron tayo, or kahit sa evaluations, I want to be present. I want to be transparent and I want to be flexible for the CASA community.

Can you share some previous projects or other activities that you are involved in that represents your best quality as a student leader and how it can be to your advantage running to this position?

Honestly, rather than previous projects, I was a former editor-in-chief back in my old institution. Being an editor-in-chief requires some sort of finesse or ability to organize and uphold transparencies especially as you move forward in creating your news articles as you manage them. Especially kung gagawa ka ng issues hindi pala (totoo), you have to be the one to overview ano nga ba ‘yung feature, ano ba ‘yung news, ano ba ‘yung ilalabas namin sa student body na will uphold the integrity of being a journalist. So I think it’s a very big part of me as a person na lumaki ako as someone with– who aims to be as transparent as possible, to be as honest as possible, and to bring that energy towards the people I interact with. As a leader, I think that’s something na could help a lot especially since bilang auditor, I’m going to deal with transparency and checks and balances a lot.

Third Part: Final Specified Questions

How do you plan to engage with the student body in providing and observing transparency regarding the organization’s financial activities?
On that point, I mean if diyan na papasok ‘yung platform ko na CASAbayan, which essentially is a transparency report na ibibigay natin sa student body every semester kasi when it comes to engagement (with) the student body, it’s almost a matter of tayo dapat yung lalapit sa kanila. With a CASA Executive Board, or the entirety of CASA willing to be transparent to put their business out there and to be held accountable of how they’re going to handle stuff, I feel like that’s a step forward to allowing the student body to know na you can question us. You can ask us for anything and we’ll be willing to give it to you dahil if something as simple as finances and transparency kaya namin ibigay sa inyo, what more kung demands niyo na yung hinihingi namin? And we’ll ensure that we will try our best to provide that.
How do you handle situations that deal with financial discrepancies or irregularities?
First of all, ang goal natin is to avoid that. Kasi, actually, one of my platforms nga is to ensure na lahat ng members ng EB ay also familiar to how the internal system of CASA works, whether it be secretarial works or budgeting. And by ensuring that everyone in CASA or in CASA EB is familiar with how that works, I believe na maiiwasan natin ‘yan. Pero sure, regardless if mangyari na nga siya, as much as possible I would be there and very present kasi it’s my job and I will be sure na throughout the steps I will be handling it with grace and flexibility dahil anything goes… and the best thing we can do is to ensure na we make the best out of any situation kahit na it’s quite hard. Ayun, be sure to avoid it. Pero if we’re there already, we’ll try to mitigate it in a way na hindi masasaktan ang CASA and student body.
