#CASAHalalan2024: Maria Bea Angela Esguerra is laser-focused to take CASA's Secretary post

Board from CASA Chronicle's Creatives Team

CASAns are yet again to vote for the next voices of the Communication Arts' Student Association for the next Academic Year as four student leaders brave their way to their respective Executive Board spots.

On that note, CASA Chronicle conducts a set of interviews in partnership with the Electoral Board for an in-depth view of this year's roster of EB position bets.

Aiming to get the nod of the CASAn Community is Freshman Maria Bea Angela Esguerra whom aims to defy all odds and flourish with fellow CASAns through her leadership brand.

First Part: General Questions

What specific goals do you hope to achieve if elected?

So I would like to highlight our current general plan of action for this question which is CASAping which stands for KASANGGA SA PAG ABANTE TUNGO SA SERBISYONG ANGAT, PROGRESIBONG, AT INKLUSIBO UST CASA. For this naman po i would like to continue yung tuluyang pag abante ng UST CASA and i believe na mapapanatili ko siya or i will continue that sa pamamagitan ng pagiging dedicated ko as a secretary na for sa progresibong at inklusibong UST CASA  sa tingin ko mapapanatili ko siya sa pamamagitan ng aking mga plataporma na aking pinangalanang CASAngga ng CASANs, which is a digitally available manual. Next would be CASAma sa Ginhawa which is to make available discounts for our CASAns and lastly, the CASAping Inklusibo which is a platform naman which would give pag-asa sa komunidad na may kapansanan, particularly the deaf community.

What steps will you take or leadership approach that you will practice in ensuring that all student voices, particularly CASAns will be heard and considered?

One particularly is a democratic sort of leadership style kasi as a freshman ito yung naoobserve ko na pinapractice natin kaya all of the voices and concerns of each CASAns are being heard. As your next secretary, I would like to maintain and uphold this democratic style of leadership and I want to accommodate each CASAn, I would like to they will feel that their voice is being heard.

Third Part: Final Specified Questions

What approach or strategies do you have in addressing conflicts and disagreements between members of the student body?

So as a secretary for the next term, I would like to propose a strategy ayun nga I would like to accommodate mga parties involved sa conflict and since we are in a democratic environment, I would like to foster that which also includes pagresolve ng conflict so bale I would first assess the conflict and with the parties involved, I will not show any form of pagiging bias so that their sides they wouldn’t think na it's invalid. As the secretary, I would like again to foster an environment that would encourage the CASAns to resolve their conflict and to propose plans ayun nga po resolutions para hindi na po may occur o mangyari ulit yung conflict.

What do you think are the main characteristics that you have that make you an effective student leader, or specifically as a secretary?

So, First, quality i think i have which makes me someone na pwede sa position ng secretary would be a good and effective communicator kasi being a secretary, may mga nakakausap talaga na tao since sa pagprocess ng papers hindi lang ikaw yung involved and sa if you’re able to send or be able to deliver your message effectively, edi parang walang magkakaroon ng sort of noise or sort of misunderstanding or mistranslation sa mesage mo. Second would be flexibility, as someone who is under team secretary, currently an executive associate, I have experiences that made me talaga be more flexible kasi may pagkakataon kapag nagproprocess ng papers or naglalakad ng papers, biglang kailangan mong irevise to, kailangan mong baguhin to, kailangan may ganto, kailagan may ganto kang document to and syempre yung ibang tao from my experience parang na nonotice ko na nafrufrustrate sila and for me actually see yung mga ganoong opportunity as something na “ah okay i could see this as something na I can improve ganon” so being flexible I could be more efficient din in working as the secretary for the student council. And lastly, it is to be matyaga ganoon. matyaga, mapersevere ibig sabihin may determination ako para maaccomplish agad yung isang task example would be how I waited 2 hours sa office para lang magpapirma ng documents so as a secretary, i am prepared and ready to face those sort of situations.
