World Poetry Day Series 2022 (Day 3, Part 2): Main Character

We conclude the second day of our WPD 2022 Series with another empowering poem. Written by Katrina Villanueva of 2COM1, the piece is about living life with no inhibitions, therefore, we must stop looking for validation elsewhere but within ourselves. Confidence is beautiful and that gives us the power to own our narratives and be the 'Main Character.'

Main Character
by  Katrina Isabela D. Villanueva

Don’t listen to those that say what you can or cannot wear,
Their eyes aren’t made to look at the colors you bear.
Do not paint yourself a villain over mistakes you have made,
For it is part of growth and learning to treat yourself with care.

Villains are made and not born, Main characters are built from the core.
Do not accept the words of others that call you a bore.
If you do not grow from your misdeeds; lessons you continue to ignore,
Then you have painted yourself a villain in your own lore.

Pour your heart out, preach, and inspire
Wear all the colors that you painstakingly desire.
You are the main character in your own story,
Tis’ not background characters with whom you share your glory.
