Heads up, CASANs!
The Acting Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Letters, Atty. Jacqueline O. Lopez-Kaw, DCL, has recently disseminated a memorandum announcing events for the month of August 2023—the general re-orientation and St. Thomas More Excellence Award.
The incoming academic season, A.Y 2023-2024, is set to commence on August 9, 2023, as CASANs will face new clusters of educational activities and requirements. All Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are prompted to attend the General Re-orientation session, which will be held through Google Meet on Thursday, August 10, 2023, from 9:00 am to 11:00m. This is in order for the upperclassmen to recall the University’s academic policies and notable student handbook’s provisions.
Students are urged to read the student handbook before the orientation to further understand the regulations and policies that will be discussed and to maximize the limited 2-hour time on Google Meet.
In honor of the outstanding determination and academic performance of the members of the Faculty of Arts and Letters—the St. Thomas More Excellence Award (STMEA) will be heralded on the same day of the re-orientation at the LESO (Central Library) Auditorium, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. This is to bestow awards for scholastic achievement upon non-graduating students; on the other hand, other categories of the awards will be conferred in the next academic year.
The awards are given to those students who have acquired impeccable performance throughout a specific academic period by submission of research, academics, and community engagement. Only those students who have been invited to the event ceremony are allowed to attend on-site; other awardees, such as those who made it to the Dean’s List, may watch the hybrid event through a link that will be sent upon.
Giving way for the participants to attend the activities, classes, online and on-site, during the aforementioned time, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm, are suspended. Classes will resume after the ceremonies, from 4:00 pm onwards.
