The Lyceum of the Philippines University Young Filipino Advocates of Critical Thinking (yFACT-LPU) welcomed the University of Santo Tomas-Communication Arts Students’ Association (UST CASA) to Pinoy Social Media Fest 3, an event targeted to uphold and promote the responsible usage of social media. The event was held on January 11, 2023 at the JPL Hall of Freedom in LPU Manila.
Tagged as the "most outstanding event" in LPU Manila, the Pinoy Social Media Fest embarks on a comeback for a third year—enjoining a vast array of prominent online and government personalities to touch upon topics of battling disinformation and fake news in the modern age of digitalization.
The invited confab speakers were social media stars Lyqa Maravilla, Ayn Bernos, Pipay Kipay, Andrei King, Alex Diaz, Kerwin King, Drag Race Philippines Season 1 contestant Lady Morgana, Miss Transglobal 2020 Mela Habijan, Miss Grand International 2016 first runner-up Nicole Cordoves, Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuña, and Senators Risa Hontiveros and Win Gatchalian.
Present at the event were UST CASA’s Vice President for External Affairs Ranch M. Ramas; Executive Associate to the Vice President for External Affairs KC Alanis Turtem; Public Relations Officer Joshua Isaac Galvez; Finance Committee Head Zyl Grei Dela Peña; and Creatives Staff Krisha Natividad.
One of the CASAn attendees, Erah Laurice Alcaraz, an Executive Associate to the External Vice President of UST-CASA, was enthralled to see different personalities share their insights on a ‘very relevant’ topic of responsible social media usage.
When asked about their thoughts on the event, Alacaraz emphasized, "Maganda ‘yung aim ng event since nakapag-gather sila ng social media influencers to share their knowledge sa mga umattend… Very relevant ng topic since nasa age of information tayo."
Meanwhile, another Executive Associate to the External Vice President, Jaryil Grace Raguini expressed the impact of the speakers’ insights on her, stating how inspiring their talks were in addressing the power of social media.
The event also included a solidarity dance and the festival awards recognizing the social contribution of the invited personalities.
