Today, June 3, 2022, is a special day for Thomasian graduates. After 2 years of inactivity due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the University of Santo Tomas welcomed home the Graduates of Batch 2022 in this year’s Baccalaureate Mass at the UST Grandstand and Open Field.
The program started at 4 PM and students from different colleges and faculties paraded to the Grandstand. Graduates showed their gratitude by giving messages to co-graduates, blockmates, and all those who accompanied them through their college journey.
The Baccalaureate Mass started at 5:25 PM and was kicked off with the recognition of the 21 different colleges and faculties in the university, followed by the Celebration of the Holy Eucharist led by Rector Very Rev. Fr. Richard G. Ang, O.P. The Mass ended in high spirit as the graduates waved their light sticks.
After the Holy Mass, different representatives from Colleges and Faculties offered flowers to Mary, Our Lady of Holy Rosary as a sign of love and gratitude for the completed academic year. The 2021-2022 Central Student Council President, Ms. Krizia Milleny C. Bricio delivered an uplifting graduation speech about overcoming the trials brought by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Also included in the program are the send-off rights headed by the Director of the Office for Student Affairs, Asst. Prof. Maria Cecilia A. Tio Cuison, MED where the mission cross is given to the graduate class. Afterward, graduates recited the Thomasian Pledge.
A ceremony of lighting candles while singing the UST Hymn was conducted towards the latter part of the program. The graduating Batch of 2022 proceeded to exit the Arch of the Centuries which is a symbolic act for any Thomasian—the sign of their graduation.
Congratulations to the graduating class of 2022, especially to our Communication Seniors! You may watch the replay by UST here.
