“Nasa bahay na ako ulit. I’m back home to where I belong.” These were the words of Arnold Herrera, class president of 4COM1, as juniors and seniors of the Communication program from the Faculty of Arts and Letters made their return to the campuses of the University of Santo Tomas, last Tuesday, October 4, 2022, to conduct their limited face-to-face Radio Production and Film Production classes.

The seniors of the Communication program conducted workshops for their Film Production class. The workshop involved learning about camera angles and lighting for cinematography—activities that were deemed more efficient to learn during on-site demonstrations.
In an interview with Andrea Rose Paño from 4COM2, she said “As someone who understands things much better in a school setting, I cannot deny that being inside the classroom made learning easier for all of us. We can also focus more on the lectures compared to when we are at home just sitting in front of our laptops.”
For the juniors of the communication program, they took part in a Radio Production Orientation to learn how to properly use the equipment and practice at the booth. This was conducted by an onsite visit at the Radio Tech Booth at the Communications Bureau.
“It’s really helpful because we can see and interact with the equipment so that we know how things really work in real life,” William Dexter Mamuyac from 3COM2 expressed. When asked about their thoughts regarding the chances given to them to acquire real-life experience, “Mas ginaganahan ako to study,” he added.

With these gradual changes from online to on-site classes, hopes are high for all junior and senior communication students that the limited face-to-face classes will sustain until the end of the semester.
