What’s up CASAns and Journos!

The 2022 National Elections is just around the corner and with it, the rise of fake news and disinformation in the media has only become more rampant. As media practitioners, we must uphold critical judgment and have zero tolerance for the spread of false information.

The UST Journalism Society has come up with a way to raise awareness and battle fake news. In their words, “as future media professionals, it is our responsibility to understand this phenomenon and safeguard the welfare of the Filipinos to know the truth.”

To accomplish this, they have decided to collaborate with our very own UST-CASA and TomasinoWeb in a webinar called Fake news yan!: A Webinar and Workshop on Fake News which will happen on April 2, 2022, Saturday. Excuse letters for the time slots that will be affected by the webinar will be provided to the students who will participate in the said event.

A few quick reminders from the UST Journalism Society:

  1. Register through this link, so that the number of people expected to attend the webinar shall be determined.
  2. Attendants will be accepted starting from 12:45 PM. Please make sure to be there on the dot as possible. [The link will be followed].
  3. Listen to the speaker and engage in the activities prepared by the society.

This event will be held via MS Teams and streamed live via Facebook on the Official UST Journalism Society Facebook page from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm.

We would also like to remind everyone that this event is not required but it is highly encouraged for everyone to attend.

We hope to see you there CASAns and Journos!
