Transcend 2022 continues with its mission to prepare our junior CASAns for their fast-approaching future in the professional world as Day 2 commenced today, April 7 Thursday.
After starting formally with an opening prayer and the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, Transcend proceeds by introducing Ms. Sherylin Untalan, today’s first speaker. Ms. Untalan is currently a 4th-year AB Communication student doing her internship at GMA News in the Online News Department. She had also previously interned for CNN Philippines under the News Gathering Department.
Ms. Untalan’s talk revolved around her experiences interning for major news outlets like GMA and CNN. From her experience, she notes the fast-paced nature of having to work for news outlets as she is often expected to make quick submissions of articles as soon as they are assigned. Ms. Untalan also makes a point about creating a healthy environment in the workplace.
“One thing that is important din kasi, sa kahit anong work or industry man 'yan, is to create a healthy environment kasi you’ll be dealing with it. Make it easy for yourself. If you create a negative impression or environment, ikaw din mag-susuffer kasi part ka niyan. So why not make it easier for everyone? You have the same goal at the end of the day." She advises 3rd-year CASAns who will soon be taking on their own internships.
During the break, CASA Footworks provided today’s entertainment as they energized our juniors before the second talk.
The second talk of the day was an orientation on the process of applying for internships by Asst. Prof. Anna Cielo T. Perez. The talk provided much-needed information for junior CASAns on the necessary steps needed if one wishes to apply for an internship, including the required paperwork and what to expect once you’ve already submitted your application.
Both speakers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation towards the end of the webinar. Day 2 concludes with the singing of the UST Hymn.
Tomorrow will be Transcend 2022’s 3rd and last day and will be held around the same time from 8:00 A.M. to 10:30 A.M. via Zoom.
