Close The Cancer Gap

Two sit in the waiting room

Side by side, same diagnosis

And maybe will reach the same end

At different times

One can survive while the other doesn’t

It is not just about life and death,

It is also about every intricate thing

And the whole of his being

Both are on shaky ground

Two pairs of arms lifted to the sky

But only one gets pulled above

Isn’t it unfair?

And maybe that is what life is,

But it shouldn’t be.

Everyone has the right to life

Who are we to crush it?

Reality hits like a wake-up call

The places a person is at,

And the status he stands on,

Holds the care one receives by its throat

And the truth is, both can be saved

If given the chance, if given the same opportunity to live

But the gap gets bigger and bigger

When do we close it?
